“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matthew 5:6 (Beatitudes)
Scripture and Prayer for the Fight Against:James 1:6-8 (KJV) “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to ask in unwavering faith, steady my wavering heart so I am not tossed like a wave, and make me stable in all my ways.
John 20:27 (KJV) “Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.”
Prayer: Risen Lord, just as You met Thomas in his doubt with compassion, meet me where I struggle to believe—help me not to be faithless but to believe fully in You.
Romans 13:8 (KJV) “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.”
Prayer: Lord, help me to owe no one anything except the continuing debt of love; guide me to manage my finances wisely and pay my debts honorably so I can live freely in Your love.
Matthew 6:31-33 (KJV) (from the broader passage on not worrying about provision in Matthew 6:25-34) “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, when financial burdens cause me anxiety, help me seek first Your kingdom and righteousness, trusting that You know my needs and will provide all things as I put You first.
John 14:18 (KJV) “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
Prayer: Savior, You promised not to leave us as orphans or comfortless—come to me now in my isolation, fill the emptiness with Your Spirit, and remind me I am never abandoned.
Matthew 19:6 (KJV) “Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for the sacred bond You create in marriage; in the pain of family breakdown, help me honor what You have joined and seek Your wisdom for restoration or peace.
Ephesians 4:32 (KJV) “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Prayer: Gracious God, even in family conflict and division, make me kind and tenderhearted; empower me to forgive as You have forgiven me through Christ, bringing peace to wounded relationships.
Revelation 21:4 (KJV) “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Prayer: Eternal God, in the midst of my tears and pain from loss, give me hope in Your promise to one day wipe away every tear and end all sorrow forever.
Matthew 25:35 (KJV) For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in.”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, when I face hunger or see others in need, help me recognize You in the hungry and respond with generosity, knowing that feeding them is feeding You.
Matthew 6:11 (KJV) (from the Lord’s Prayer, emphasizing daily provision) “Give us this day our daily bread.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, provide my daily bread today; in times of food insecurity, increase my trust in Your faithful supply and relieve my worry about tomorrow.
John 6:35 (KJV) “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
Prayer: Bread of Life, when physical hunger or deeper emptiness overwhelms me, draw me to You so that I may never hunger spiritually and find true satisfaction in Your presence.
Ephesians 6:2-3 (KJV) “Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”
Prayer: Gracious God, help me honor my father and mother in their aging years with respect, care, and support, trusting Your promise of blessing for obedience. 1
Timothy 5:1 (KJV) “Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren.”
Prayer: Lord, grant me patience and respect when interacting with older people; help me entreat elders as fathers, treating them with gentleness and honor in their challenges of aging.
Matthew 26:52 (KJV) “Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me to put away violence and trust in Your way of peace; guard my heart from responding to harm with harm, knowing that those who live by the sword will perish by it.
Romans 12:17-21 (KJV) (key excerpt from verse 19 and 21) “Recompense to no man evil for evil… Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord… Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, when faced with evil, crime, or violence, help me not to repay evil for evil; let me overcome wrongdoing with good and leave vengeance to You, finding strength in Your justice.
Romans 13:3-4 (KJV) “For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”
Prayer: Sovereign God, thank You for establishing authorities as Your servants to restrain evil and protect the innocent; grant wisdom to leaders in combating crime and violence, and give me courage to live rightly under Your ordained order.
Matthew 5:38-39 (KJV) “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”
Prayer: Savior, in a world of retaliation and violence, help me follow Your command to resist not evil with more evil; grant me the grace to turn the other cheek and reflect Your non-violent love even toward wrongdoers.
